Ptarmigan Down is a Material resource that can be harvested from the bodies of slain Ptarmigans. It was released in the paid portion of the Part 3: Frontier Comforts update of the Tales from the Far Territory expansion.

Its primary use is for crafting the clothing accessory Improvised Insulation, and for improving an ordinary Bedroll into the warmer Improvised Down Bedroll. Down bundles are also used to repair both previously mentioned items.
