Potato is a raw food item in The Long Dark, found inside Vegetable Drawers, Potato Sacks or indoors.

Overview

Potatoes are vegetables with a long shelf-life. They cannot be eaten raw, but may be cooked or used to craft stews. They are found indoors 4-8 at a time inside a Potato Sack or Vegetable Drawers, loose indoors (usually on the floor) or inside crate.

Potatoes are currently a non-renewable resource like all mass produced foods.

Potatoes spoil at the same rate no matter whether stored inside, outside, container or not.

Usage

Raw potatoes are inedible, and must be placed upon a cooking slot of a lit Fire for 60 minutes to create a Cooked Potato. Collecting a finished one improves your Cooking Skill and increases its condition by 50%.

Raw potatoes are necessary for the creation of various stew Recipes.

• A potato sack in the basement of the Farmhouse.

Ash Canyon

• 2 in a crate, 1 lying behind a chair at Foreman's Retreat.

Forsaken Airfield

• A potato sack inside Main Hangar basement under one of the shelves.

Mountain Town

• Some of the randomly destroyed houses in Milton contain potato sacks, if the house is still standing.

• 2 under the table inside Milton House (Grey Mother's) kitchen.

Mystery Lake (region)

• A potato sack under the stairs at Camp Office
