Molly's Husband is the deceased former husband of Molly found by Astrid Greenwood at the start of Episode 3: Crossroads Elegy. He is found as a corpse near the start of the Episode.

Very little information about Molly's Husband is known outside of Molly's biased testimony of him. His real name is unknown and the local area of Pleasant Valley has no notes mentioning his name or past behavior.

Backstory[]

Married to Molly at an undisclosed date in the past, Molly's Husband lived with his wife on the Pleasant Valley Farmstead in Pleasant Valley for many years. It is heavily implied that the marriage between the two was an abusive one, given Molly's misandrist outlook regarding men as she begins to open up to Astrid more and more. An uncomfortable family photo of the two can be found inside the Farmstead. Molly would later angrily remark that her life could have been better had she been anything but a simple farmer's wife, showing the depths of the abusive relationship she shared with her husband.

Some time around the First Flare, a pack of Timberwolves attacked the Farmstead, forcing Molly's Husband to confront them with the household Hunting Rifle. A misfire occurred during the confrontation, causing the barrel of the rifle to explode and leaving Molly's Husband defenseless to the oncoming Timberwolves. When Molly's Husband pleaded for his wife to offer help, Molly instead chose to stand idly by and allow the wolves to kill him, later remarking that "she did not murder him, but it was her intention for him to die" on that day.

Molly would later drive off the wolves and recover her husband's body along with the exploded rifle, storing them both in the farmhouse. Astrid eventually discovers Molly's Husband in the cellar, covered with a cloth, much to Molly's dismay. He has been dead for some time, considering how blue his corpse is once uncovered.

Though Molly feels more liberated than ever, Molly's has developed an unhealthy and highly misandrist stance regarding men even long after her husband's death. Molly's hatred of men can be seen in her brutal interactions with the local Convicts, silently hunting them with a bow and arrow and leaving their corpses in the snow where they fall, often not even bothering to recover the arrow still attached to their bodies.
