Manufactured Arrows are non-craftable ammunition items for the Survival Bow and its variants.
Overview[]
Manufactured arrows resemble a modern fixed blade broadhead hunting arrow with a steel-alloy head and synthetic fletching and shaft. It can only be acquired by trading with the Trader after completion of his first special request. Manufactured Arrows are a pure upgrade from Simple Arrows, dealing more damage and being twice as durable, but cannot be repaired once broken and must be replaced outright.
Manufactured arrows are not available for trade on Interloper or Misery difficulty.
A bug exists where picking up Manufactured Arrows from any animal carcass will bring up the wrong notification in the top-right corner. Instead of showing the correct name for the arrow as well as the correct model, the pick-up notification will instead show the name and model of a Simple Arrow. Regardless of the buggy notification, you will always get your Manufactured Arrow back, you won't be given a Simple Arrow wrongly.
Differences from Simple Arrow[]
- Does 12.5% more damage.
- Twice as durable.
- Despite the description saying it is heavier, it weighs the same as a Simple Arrow and has the same flight characteristics as it's counterparts.
Locations[]
Completing Sutherland's first special request will unlock the ability to trade for manufactured arrows, as these arrows do not appear naturally in the game world, this is their only source. It will always appear as a trade once unlocked and up to 10 arrows may be purchased each time.
One arrow costs:
- 2 any cured hides
- 2.00 L Water (Potable)
- 2 Ptarmigan Down
This cost is lowered when the player has gained enough Trust to get a discount from the Trader, reducing the trade cost to:
- 1 any cured hide
- 1.50 L Water (Potable)
- 1 Ptarmigan Down
Wear[]
The total durability of manufactured arrows is variable and depends on a material table to determine it's condition loss; with the hardness of the material and the angle at which the arrow impacts the target determining the amount of degradation received. After a hit takes the arrow's condition below 0% it will break and turn into a Broken Manufactured Arrow, which cannot be harvested or reused and essentially acts as a junk item.
Manufactured arrows are unique in that they inflict more damage against animals, and this damage can be further multiplied by the bushcraft bow's 25% arrow damage modifier, improving the chances of instant-kill hits.
Arrow condition loss on Impact (Increased by perpendicular hits)[]
| Material | Snow | Flesh | Wood | Stone/Metal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Condition Loss | 2% | 12% | 15% | 27.5% |
Trivia[]
- The multiplicative damage bonus gained from firing manufactured arrows from the Bushcraft Bow will allow the player to inflict very large amounts of damage to animals, the most notable breakpoint being neck shots (not headshots) on moose become instant-kills with this setup.
- The arrows lodged in the back of the Old Bear appear to have a similar orange and black color scheme like the manufactured arrow, but lack the rubberized fins and instead use what appears to be crow feathers as their fletching.
