Jeremiah's Bearskin Coat is a cut Clothing item in The Long Dark. It can still be experienced by playing older versions of Wintermute by using the Time Capsule. It is still in the Wintermute game files.
Overview[]
The Bearskin Coat was the coat that originally belonged to Jeremiah and was lent to Will Mackenzie during the mission Survival School (Predux) in the Predux version of Episode 2: Luminance Fugue. Jeremiah would task Mackenzie to go to the Lookout and find a Cured Black Bear Hide he had stashed there to dry out, then use it to repair his coat, as part of Mackenzie's survival training. It would later be returned to Jeremiah.
The item is not a collectible, and can be found in the Clothing section of the Backpack, weighing 5.00 kg. The coat itself cannot be worn, nor harvested at any point during the mission. Unlike an actual Bearskin Coat, Jeremiah's Bearskin Coat requires only a single Cured Black Bear Hide to mend it, and does not have any clothing stats whatsoever.
Trivia[]
- Jeremiah is never seen wearing his Bearskin Coat in Episode 1 or 2, only being shown wearing a Wolfskin Coat in the What I Know knowledge page.
- The end of Redux Episode 1 slightly retcons Will's encounter with Jeremiah, as the trapper would briefly be seen wearing his Wolfskin Coat while being attacked by the Old Bear. His Bearskin Coat is not seen again the Redux storyline.
