Overview[]
Insomnia Risk is an Affliction added to the Part 1 Update of the Tales from the Far Territory addon, and is contracted from spending too much time in Glimmer Fog found within certain Regions within the Far Territory Frontier. At present, it can only be contracted in the Forsaken Airfield, Zone of Contamination, and Sundered Pass Regions.

The Affliction Risk for Insomnia can be mitigated by escaping Glimmer Fog when it arrives, either by finding an underground shelter or entering Transfer Pass (pursuing the latter will instantly remove any Insomnia Risk buildup).
There are 6 known underground locations that allow a survivor to escape the effects of Glimmer Fog:
- Transition Cave between Forsaken Airfield, Zone of Contamination, and Sundered Pass
- Hangar Basement
- Bunker Omega (must be unlocked)
- The cave system connecting Prayerful Window, Idle Hideout, and Cascading Gap
- Abandoned Mine
The following areas DO NOT protect against Insomnia Risk:
- The Main Hangar stairwell outside the Hangar Basement
- Any outdoor caves
- Anywhere inside the Concentrator, Conveyor Room, or even the very bottom elevator shaft of the Headframe Building
- Basement (Sundered Pass) (despite being underground)
- Cabin (Sundered Pass) (even the bottom floor)
The game currently lacks any real countermeasures in the form of foods or gear to effectively combat or hide from Glimmer Fog, so the player will almost certainly contract Insomnia if they are not already near an underground shelter when the fog arrives. It can also be hard to tell the difference between a Glimmer Fog or Aurora event during the early hours of the day while indoors for some locations, due to the inability to simply glance outside at the weather.
Failure to escape Glimmer Fog will result in Insomnia.
