An Infection Risk is an Affliction that can develop into an Infection between 8 and 24 hours after receiving the affliction. It received from getting into a Struggle with hostile Wildlife.
Risk[]

Infection Risk always accompanies the Blood Loss affliction gained from hostile Wildlife Struggles.
There is a base 50% chance of receiving an Infection after 8 hours, with a maximum of 90% chance at the 24 hour mark. The chance of receiving an Infection increases by 5% per hour.
Infection Risk is not an Infection itself, but rather a chance to receive an Infection. It is tracked as a percentage that will start at 50% and increase every hour by 5% until the maximum of 90% if untreated.
- If the player uses an item (see below) that removes Infection Risk, the affliction will entirely disappear and the player will not get an infection.
- Within a day of getting the infection risk, a roll will be made against the current Infection Risk percentage and the Infection Risk affliction will be cleared.
- If the roll is lower than the Infection Risk percentage, the player will receive the Infection affliction. The higher your infection risk, the more likely that you will get an infection.
Cause[]
The player can receive an Infection Risk after surviving a Struggle with a Bear, Cougar, Poisoned Wolf, Timberwolf, or Wolf.
Treatment[]
Infection Risk can be treated by using one of the following items:
| Treatment | Number required | |
|---|---|---|
| Antiseptic | 1 | |
| Old Man's Beard Wound Dressing | 1 |
If a treatment is applied, the Infection Risk is removed without developing further into an Infection. If the player does not receive an infection within this time period, the affliction will be removed without treatment. It is very important to note that one can have multiple Infection Risks at once, even from the same wolf attack. Always carry at least two sets of blood loss and infection risk treatment.
