|“||An improvised hatchet. Basically a heavy piece of metal with sharpened edge. Not fancy, but utilitarian.
Description[edit | edit source]
Similar to the hatchet, the improvised hatchet is used to harvest sticks from branches, cedar firewood from cedar limbs and fir firewood from fir limbs. It can also be used to break down wooden objects such as shelves and crates into reclaimed wood or to break the ice in fishing huts. The improvised hatchet is slightly heavier and around 1/3 slower than the hatchet, and condition is reduced by about 3% each use. In most game difficulties, after the standard hatchets in the game have been worn down, improvised hatchets will need to be made. In Interloper, no commercially produced hatchets exist; the player must improvise their own. Tool condition is reduced by around 3% each use.
Obtaining[edit | edit source]
Forging the improvised hatchet is only possible at a furnace, and a heavy hammer is required. Coal is required for the furnace to reach the high temperature necessary for forging. Scrap metal and cloth are needed to craft this tool and other objects.
