Hushed River is a long and winding frozen river that flows through the Hushed River Valley region in The Long Dark. It flows from opposite ends of the map.
Overview[]
Hushed River is noted for its many waterfalls that include Reclusive Falls, Offset Falls and Twin Sisters Falls. It also has access points to some ice caves and many waterfall locations. The river contains an abundance of cattails and coal, but wolves are also common on the western half of the river, so it's a good idea to be careful when exploring. To get into the eastern portion of the valley, it is necessary to descend using a rope, either from Pensive Vista or from Many Falls Vista.
Shelters[]
There are a number of caves along the river which can serve as shelter. One of the entrances to the ice cave may be found here, but going through it will soak the player, limiting its usefulness as a base. Another cave can be found slightly to the east. Once past Twin Sisters Falls, the player will run into Valley Cave, a popular safe house when exploring the eastern part of the valley. A small cave is present at the Landslide, but this cave doesn't offer any warmth benefit.
