Fresh Black Bear Hide is the fur and skin harvested from a Bear. It can be used as a Material for crafting or repairing Bearskin Coat or Bear Skin Bedroll once they have Cured into a Cured Black Bear Hide.
Overview[]
Fresh Black Bear Hide are acquired by harvesting a Black Bear Carcass. They can be cured by leaving them indoors for 12 days. Fresh Black Bear Hide Decay at a rate of 3.333 Condition a day (Stalker difficulty) and will decay into Ruined status if not left to cure indoors. The current curing status can be checked by hovering your reticle over the item, where it will display a "X% Cured" progress. This increases until the item is 100% cured, where the item will automatically become fully cured, will change to a darker texture, and is ready for crafting use. Completely cured items never decay.
Black Bear Hides can be a hard, resource-intensive item to obtain, since they requiring the killing a Bear with a weapon, as there are no naturally occurring Bear Carcasses. Each Bear Carcass will have one hide, along with meat and Fresh Gut.
One Cured Black Bear Hide can be found in a Memento Cache inside Peak Cave, in the Hushed River Valley.
