Hinterland has plans to release Episode 5 in late 2024, and it will be free to all current owners of The Long Dark. It will take place in the mysterious Perseverance Mills and will complete the story of Mackenzie and Astrid, while also tying up any loose threads left within the story (including the conflict involving Mathis and his gang of Convicts, as well as the contents of Astrid's Hardcase, and the message Mackenzie must carry to Atwood, "Wintermute").
