Desolation Point is an achievement in The Long Dark.
Guide[]
To get this achievement you have to use a Forge to create both an Improvised Knife and an Improvised Hatchet. You need at least 8 pieces of Scrap Metal and 2 pieces of Cloth as well as enough Coal (minimum of 4 pieces) to bring a Forge to a temperature of at least 150° Celsius (302° Fahrenheit). You also have to find a Heavy Hammer to craft the items. Crafting a Cougar Claw Knife or Arrowhead is not necessary for this achievement.
Forge locations[]
Forges are quite rare in the world: only four exist on Great Bear Island:
- The Riken in Desolation Point
- Old Spence Family Homestead in Forlorn Muskeg
- Maintenance Shed in Broken Railroad
- Main Hangar in Forsaken Airfield (requires Tales from the Far Territory DLC)

This achievement's name is a reference to the V0.264 update Desolation Point.
