Breyerhouse Pie is a food item in The Long Dark, it is learned from a unique Recipe Card and is made with a Cooking Skillet.
Overview[]
Breyerhouse Pie offers significant benefits to a survivor with a maxed cooking skill. Its meat ingredients contain only 850 calories (1062 with level 5 cooking) when cooked separately, but a cooked pie doubles the calorie count to 1700 (In reality 2125 calories because of level 5 cooking). It also uses the same amount of oil and flour needed to make two bannocks, which would be 500 calories at level 5 cooking, so it's more efficient in that regard as well. On top of its nutritional value, it has a weight of just 0.3 kg. This gives it an effective energy density of 7083 calories per kilogram (easily beating all packaged foods) and making it one of the most energy dense foods in the game.
The Breyerhouse Pie does have some notable downsides. Its moderate decay rate means a survivor needs to be careful about leaving any cooked pies in containers where the pies will disappear upon reaching 0% condition. The oil and flour needed for cooking can be hard to come by depending on the difficulty level being played. Finally, consuming it does reduce a survivor's max stamina by 15%, although only for an hour, and its other effects are all beneficial.
While the game interface shows it is intended to have a positive impact on Cabin Fever, it presently does not reduce Cabin Fever Risk, cause Cabin Fever Risk to fall more quickly while outdoors, nor lower the time to heal Cabin Fever while outdoors.
Breyerhouse Pie produces a Scent which attracts predators, and may be dropped as a decoy.

Trivia[]
Given the location of the Recipe Card for this food is located in the old Hunting Lodge despite being a Breyerhouse Recipe, the Forest Talkers most likely stole the card and stashed it in their operating center in the Lodge.
While the cooking menu and uncooked version of the Breyerhouse Pie list its weight as 0.2 kg, the final cooked pie masses 0.3 kg.
