Overview
The ammunition workbench is a crafting tool. It allows players to craft gunpowder, bullets, or rounds to fire from a hunting rifle or revolver. It is the only way to train the gunsmithing skill without using research books.
Gunpowder and assembled ammunition cartridges can be crafted freely, while lead bullets require the attached forge on the left side of the table to be fueled with wood or coal. Unlike a normal forge, the attached forge can only create bullets but has no minimum temperature requirement. It takes 1 hour to forge 6 bullets.
Craftable items
The ammunition workbench can be used to craft the following:
- Rifle Ammunition
- Revolver ammunition
- Bullet (x6)
- Gunpowder 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs)
Location
The only ammunition workbench can be found in Bleak Inlet. It is located in the workshop at the Last Resort Cannery along with the milling machine.
In order to gain access to the Last Resort Cannery's workshop, the player must unlock the door with its access code while it is powered during an aurora. The access code can only be obtained from a note found inside the Echo One Radio Tower on a plateau in Bleak Inlet (which must be accessed initially from The Ravine. The note merely needs to be read and does not need to have been picked up to open the door (though it has no weight). Once the entry door is unlocked, entry to the workshop is permitted)
Tips
The furnace attached to the ammunition crafting workbench is the only firebox in the game that can't be used for cooking, probably due to the danger of ingesting excessive quantities of lead. A nearby fire barrel in the workshop must be used instead. There is no naturally spawned bed in the workshop. It's usually recommended to bring a bedroll if the player intends on spending an extended period of time in the crafting ammunition.
