Abandoned Mine No. 5 is a small mine in Desolation Point.

Overview

Abandoned Mine No. 5 is a vacant coal mine that runs most of the length of Desolation Point.

It is abundant in Coal, which burns at very high temperatures. Coal can be used in most fires, but it is particularly important for fueling the Furnace, which, along with the Heavy Hammer allows the player to craft certain key items. A Torch is always found near the eastern access entrance, regardless of difficulty. It also has a Salt Deposit located about halfway through.

Navigating

The mine is dark but predominately linear. It is highly recommended that anyone venturing into the mine brings with them a light source, such as a Flare or a fueled Storm Lantern.

While it is feasible to make it through the cave without a portable light source, it can be almost impossible (particularly during the day), and it is easy to miss important loot that might be scattered about.
