the only reason I could see some one doubting this theory is this paragraph in the March 2019 developer diary. "Episode Three is the story of Astrid’s survival after escaping Milton, and takes place entirely in Pleasant Valley. As you probably know, Pleasant Valley is a *huge* region, with a lot of scope for interesting environments and some great story moments. We’ve been updating the region to freshen it up for the story, while adding some new landmarks and locations that are introduced in Episode Three. I’m really excited about how it’s all coming together, particularly in how true to Astrid’s character and background the episode is." The reason I can speak with surety is because the employees of hinterland are consistent, logical people. So far they they've followed all the basics of good story telling in a masterful manner. As in Ananda Gupta says in his theory's of what makes good game play shows that that a story fragment or sitting (aka episode or chapter) is one to two hours. As Raphael says in the same developer diary and relatively a few times "before Building Redux also showed us that the “ideal length” for a WINTERMUTE episode is about 5-7 hours." there are roughly five too 7 chapters per episode depending how you play through them (I'm counting story progressing side quests) . Are you starting to see the trend. Gupta also states that a player will play a good game roughly 20 times. chapter=story fragment , story fragment + 1-2 hours x eleven story fragments = 11-22 hours of game play, hour or two of game play of game play equals = story fragment. So at the end of episode two is the ideal amount of time and scenarios to switch scenarios or character. But that only explains how I knew that episode three would be from the prospective of astride. which I did predict before hinterland told us in my stock exchange article about the about why players require a switch of character prospective roughly every 20 hours. The fact that in know the location of the region despite the first quote is mainly because the reasons initially stated and that is that there is so far an equal number of regions in the east and in the west. The reason I think that will be the same is because an equal number of regions to each side is perfect for hinterland. Why is it perfect for hinterland you may ask? well it keeps the game balanced. maintaining similar survivability in in each hemisphere. Plus hinterland Hinterland has so far shone they like to keep mystery lake central an equal number of regions allows this. Hinterland has demonstrated this by,
1. Mystery lake was the first region added to the game and good game developers always have gone through dozens or even hundreds of area designs before launching any thing that's still recognizable three years later.
2. Mystery lake has had the most work done.
3. It plays a lead role in all the games major stories, and most of the subplots.
4. It has key aspects of every environment in the long dark.
If you want to know what those environments' are and how the play out in mystery lake ask and I will add them to the wiki.
